I was excited about the upgrade but I was disappointed after all of the hype. So I will be direct. This card is not that much of an improvement over my EVGA GTX 660. Now I know there are benchmarks out there that are amazing. But I am a normal user and if the games don't play remarkably better and don't look remarkably better, then a $300+ investment is going to lead to some definite buyers remorse. Which is my case. This thing is LOUD. Don't believe statements like "sound is non-existent", unless they mean when the PC is off or asleep. This thing winds up and down and sounds like someone is running a vacuum cleaner in the room next door. It is definitely not something you want in an HTPC. Even with a very decent sound system, you can hear it over a movie. I would suspect case heat if not for the fact that I replaced a GTX 660, which was very quiet in the same Silverstone case. Very annoying and disappointing.Perhaps the biggest drawback for home theater is the fact that nVidia still refuses to provide software/driver support 1080p/60hz for 3D playback even though the hardware does (via HDMI 2.0). Most if not all new TVs and displays support it as well. NVidia does not, even though it is as simple as a 3DTV Play software update. This is an affront to their customers and will cost them at least one if they do not do something soon. AMD is starting to look good again to me.This card is a solid performer and likely a great addition for a good gaming PC where performance is the bottom line and noise is not that important. I do not recommend for home theater use.
